Ruthanne, quite a reader!
Big, BIG, NEWS: Ruthanne, now 16 and finishing up 10th grade, trusted the Lord to provide for her to go on a Teen Missions trip to Ecuador, June-July 04! Teen Missions is an inter-denominational evangelical mission. Since 1970, they have enabled over 30,000 teens and adults to experience missions first-hand. She's hoping to go again the summer of '06!NEWS FLASH (June 5th, 2006): Ruthanne has just rec'd all necessary funds to go to Albania with TMI. PTL! This project will involve helpng rehabilitate an orphanage near Tirana. She'll head off to FL on June 21st to meet her team, and then to Albania from about July 1st to Aug 11th. She'll be back in Dakar at DA by the 14th! Ruthanne is just back from her second missions trip with Teen Missions International (in 04 she went to Ecuador). Ruthanne's summer began with two weeks at the Lord's Boot Camp in Florida, a tent-type training camp to acquaint participants with conditions of the mission field. Daily classes help prepare them for their ministry. Then it was off to Albania, where the project was to build a wall, clean sewers and paint at a Christian foundation for the handicapped. Teen Missions' motto is "Get Dirty for God!" There were outreach opportunities as well, using drama, puppets, singing and testimonies. Finally, before returning to us, she experienced Debrief in Switzerland. Debrief, held at the end of each summer project, equips young people to return to their homes and churches, putting into practice the things God has taught them throughout the summer. Written in '05: "Hey! Above it said I am a reader, that is an understatement, I read all the time. I'm [sixteen] and I love cats and Africa. I enjoy listening to CCM, cross-stitching, crocheting, writing to my friends, school, and watching TV. My hobby is collecting stamps. I read mainly romance books but I read other genres as well. I enjoy watching Star Trek: Voyager and Everybody Loves Raymond."
Benjie, techo and music man!
Hey Ben Here, I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (not Pittsburgh like I thot!) and have lived in Africa all my life. Africa is where I call home, no where else. To be more specific, Kayes, Mali. Yes, I do enjoy fooling around with programs on the computer. Mostly Microsoft Publisher and I just recently learned a bit about Microsoft Excel. Not games so much. I enjoy reading and I love living in a dorm in Senegal, Dakar. I've been there for two year and it has been an experience never to forget. Well, I have written an awful lot so bye. Ben Benjamin, now 14, a 9th grader, attends Dakar Academy (as does Ruthanne). He's learned some acting, soccer, and guitar as well as normal schooling. He loves the Lord and testified to his faith in baptism at First Baptist Church in Newtown Square., PA, in March 04, something he had desired to do for over a year. This summer Ben will join Ruthanne for a summer missions trip with TMI. Being the actor he is, he chose to go all the way to Perth, Australia, to join an evangelism drama team. PTL: the good Lord provided over $3,600 in gifts for his trip and ministry (and a similar sum for Ruthanne). His Debrief was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He brags that this summer alone he visited 5 of the 6 inhabited continents (all except S. America!)
Susanna, elementary fun!
Last kid! It's easy to write up a fun girl who just loves being eleven. Legos, dolls, books, TV games, school work, make up a day for this lefty with beautiful long red hair. She has been an 'only child' the past couple years in Kayes! Thank You for PRAYING for her continuing home schooling, this year in 7th grade using the Calvert program. Pray that the Lord will supply the necessary $5,700 for school and room&board for her 8th grade at DA in Senegal.
